6 Bad Cleaning Habits you Need to Take a Break From
Just like with life in general, we all have bad habits when it comes to cleaning. And more often than not, they’re actually ruining the whole purpose of going clutter-free and squeaky clean. What’s worse is the fact that you might actually have these bad habits and may not even realise it.
So here’s helping you decide just that.
Read on to discover the 6 most bad cleaning habits that you need to stop right away!

Using Bleach
Probably one of the worst cleaning mistakes a lot of us make without even realising it is this – we use bleach as a cleaning product – something we are NOT meant to do! Bleach generally has two uses – whitening a surface or disinfecting it. It is not meant to be used as a general-purpose cleaner.
Cleaning with Dirty Tools
Oh, come on! You probably knew this one! You obviously can’t expect to get your floor clean if you’re using a dirty, stinky mop right? Just like your surfaces, you also need to get your tools clean every now and then.
Using a Single Disinfectant Wipe
Cleaning your entire bathroom or kitchen with a single disinfectant wipe may sound convenient, quick and cost-effective, but is not ideal. Remember that that little square does not contain enough to give your entire room that deep clean. If you want to stick to using a single item, do it by pouring a bit of disinfectant liquid onto a cloth napkin and running it across the entire area, adding liquid every time as you move from one area to the next.
Dusting Last
Save yourself a little extra effort by doing the dusting first before you vacuum and mop. Saving it for the last is actually going to make it all worse. Even if you feel giving the surfaces a wipe might get rid of the dust completely, it isn’t going to do that, and you’ll definitely end up having dust on the floor and other surfaces.
Using Harsh Cleaning Agents
Using too many cleaning agents, or picking harsh ones, no matter for what surfaces, is a bad idea. Remember that when you use too many cleaning products, you’re not actually getting your surface cleaner, you’re just wasting product. You will also have trouble cleaning the surface properly and it’ll most likely leave a sticky residue, which will attract more dirt and germs.
Using Too Many Paper Towels
You may not realise it, but using too many of those paper towels will eventually add up, and not only does that mean you spent a ton of money on paper, but you also contributed to environmental harm. Limit your use of paper towels as much as possible, and invest in a few cloth napkins instead, that you can wash and reuse.
Don’t forget that if you have pets in the home, making sure you clean in ways that won’t harm them is a must as well. So check out these tips for cleaning with a pet.
