Signs It’s Time to Sell Your House

It’s not uncommon as a homeowner to experience doubt as to whether or not you should be selling your home. Right now, the property market is in upheaval and it’s very uncertain and we are seeing a lot of interest rates going up and people being stuck in the rental market for a lot longer than they had planned. It’s also not uncommon for homeowners to take a look at what their neighbours’ homes are selling for and experience some price envy.

Knowing that the home that you bought for £300,000 a few years ago could now be worth a million is a very tempting thing to see. Getting a house valuation is a good way to determine whether you’d be selling your house for the right reason. But honestly, there are times that you notice that right now is the right time to start selling your house. You deserve a life in a new home that makes you feel happy. And if you’re ready to sell your house, here are the signs that it’s time to go do it.

  • Your family is growing. A good way to determine whether or not you should sell your house is to look at how big your family is going to get and whether or not your current home has the space to accommodate everybody. Little children who were once fitting in your house are now growing into teenagers who don’t seem to fit as much as they used to. The need for a larger home then grows, and if you’re feeling that squeeze, it’s important to make sure that you are putting the plans in action now so that your children will feel much more secure. It may well just be time to upsize, and that can make a very big difference.
  • You are letting go of the nest. You’re getting to that age where a big house isn’t necessary anymore, people don’t tend to stay over, and your children have grown up and gone on to have families of their own. This can make the house feel empty and home maintenance tasks feel too big. So you need to think about whether now is the time to downsize and to buy something smaller to suit your new life.
  • You need a new location. If you’ve got a job in a new area, or you are living by the beach and it’s calling your name, it might be now the time to sell your house so that you can get to know your new area properly. Your new location may offer you some lifestyle advantages and add more convenience to your life as a result.
  • You’ve got the money. If you have the money and you are ready to buy a new house, then now might be the time to sell your existing one and build it up. You will do so much better when you are ready to buy a new house as well as sell your old one.
